Call for Papers

Smart grid is a modernized power grid integrating digital information technology, communication technology, computer technology and power facilities. As an important part of smart grid, the access and management of distributed energy generators (DEGs) are gaining more and more attention. The intermittency and volatility generated by the large-scale access of DEGs will directly impact the security and stability of power system. On the other hand, the integration of DEGs generates huge amount of data on energy production and consumption, and the Edge/Fog computing techniques make it possible to use these data to improve the performance of DEG management and motivate the application of novel businesses. Thus, this session mostly concentrates the related technologies supporting or used in Edge/Fog computing in smart grid, including the communication, computation and data analysis technologies.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Edge/Fog Computing techniques assisting DEG management
    • Energy-efficient network architecture for Edge/Fog computation in smart grid.
    • Delay, buffer and energy optimization of Edge/Fog devices to support the management of DERs.
    • UAV-enabled technologies for Edge/Fog computation in DER management.
    • Deep reinforcement learning for Edge/Fog computation in DER management.
    • Resource allocation and distributed cooperation among Mobile Edge/Fog devices in DERs management.
    • Task distribution and balance on Edge/Fog-Cloud end.
  • Communication techniques assisting Edge/Fog computing in DEG management
    • Integrating Edge/Fog computation in 5G network.
    • Smart grid system combined with massive MIMO, millimeter wave, ultra-dense network.
    • Large-scale sensor and networking technologies in smart grid systems, such as communication frequency selection of wireless sensors, resolution of sensor energy supply issues, and optimization and maintenance of sensor location deployment.
    • Smart grid and drone technologies including drone routing, drone data acquisition, drone energy optimization issues, etc.
    • Resource allocation and cross-tier optimization of communication resources in smart grid systems such as resource allocation issues in massive MIMO.
    • Green communication technologies in smart grid.
    • Coexistence, interoperability and interference problems in smart grid systems such as interference problems in heterogeneous networks and ultra-dense networks.
